Just one image: St. Martha Church – Part II

Inside this Gothic Jewel, …

… there is not much left of the old splendor, after a catastrophic fire destroyed the old building almost to the foundation walls. The reconstruction was carried out in a modern variant.

The ancient stained glass windows from 1390 were stored off-site at the time of the fire due to repair work in the church.

In 1526 the church was closed as a result of the Protestant Reformation. Then, from 1625, the building was renovated and reused, and finally in 1800 it was given to the Continental Reformed Church.

The original altar was moved to the Lorenzkirche in Nürnberg.

Image made with a Ricoh GR II.
